WELCOME TO INNOVATION POINTE

The Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville (GAGE) today announced that three new businesses and the educational performing troupe, Tales & Scales, have located in Innovation Pointe, the GAGE-operated high-tech business incubator in Downtown Evansville. In addition to the new entities, both Magellan Integration and the Global Technology Services Group have expanded their operations.

With the addition of four clients, the number of businesses increases to a total of 22 in the year-old facility. This also marks the opening of a fourth floor of available space in the five-story building. When finished, Innovation Pointe will offer 48,000 square feet of class-A commercial real estate dedicated to the incubation of knowledge-based businesses.

“Providing additional businesses with an environment that enables them to start up, or move past the launching phase, has much more significance than just a tally of the businesses located in Innovation Pointe,” said Joe Wallace, GAGE president and CEO. “It really validates our emphasis on entrepreneurship and those factors critical to the viability of knowledge-based businesses. The addition of another arts-based entity enhances the inspirational atmosphere that is of vital importance to knowledge-based business.”

Businesses joining Innovation Pointe are Diversity Supply, Across Town Ads and Philip A. Schnautz, Certified Public Accountant.

Through advanced technology, Across Town Ads offers advertisers scrolling messages via graphically spectacular billboards displayed on three sides of bright, lime-colored trucks. These attention-getting mobile billboard vehicles also provide external public address systems and FM transmitters.

Diversity Supply is a general supplier providing businesses with a variety of items, including, paper products, safety supplies, computer-related items, and electrical and plumbing supplies. Diversity Supply is a certified minority business enterprise and a member of the Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council.

Schnautz has started his public accounting company in the Innovation Pointe environment, and he plans to grow the business through the assistance of the services provided there. He also is sharing his accounting expertise with other Innovation Pointe clients.

Nationally acclaimed Tales & Scales is an innovative music ensemble that formed in 1986 to ignite the imagination of young people through the creation and performance of original productions and workshops that blend music, story, theater, and creative movement. The group moved from Heidelbach Avenue to Innovation Pointe "to be more centrally located in the heart of Downtown Evansville, near fellow arts organizations and other businesses," said Managing Director Mary Dicken.

“GAGE is helping change the landscape of Downtown Evansville by recruiting a wide variety of businesses to Innovation Pointe,” said Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, chairman of GAGE. “The amount of growth in just one year shows that GAGE’s efforts to attract start-up entrepreneurs are paying off.”

Just as important as the prime physical location with centralized operating services and state-of-the-art technology is the expertise, mentoring and business assistance offered at Innovation Pointe. Through its partnership with the University of Southern Indiana and alliances with experienced business professionals who are available to offer guidance, GAGE provides Innovation Pointe clients with a broad range of critical services.

Innovation Pointe, a Certified Technology Park (CTP), was created last year at 318 Main Street in the renovated Centrum building. The former small business incubator housed in the historic Orr Iron Building was merged into Innovation Pointe. Emphasis shifted away from traditional, mixed-use business assistance and toward enhancing the opportunities for knowledge-based businesses to compete locally, throughout the Midwest and in global markets.
